Forty years of LGBT awareness in the Queen City was highlighted with the colorful, jubilant themes of the Cincinnati Pride Parade. With the recent Supreme Court repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, this year's Pride Week gave even more reason to celebrate.

In 1973, a group of 40 men and women gathered at Fountain Square to spread LGBT acceptance in a city known for its conservative values. While facing the same struggles as other groups in cities across the nation, the homosexual community gradually grew until an outpouring of support began in the 1990s. This year, over 97 organizations entered to march in the Cincinnati Pride Parade, marking it as one of the largest celebrations in its history.
